Suzani Hand Embroidered Velvet Jacket

In the walled gardens of old Shiraz, pomegranate trees were planted not just for fruit but for beauty — their blossoms a symbol of abundance carried across trade routes from Persia into the suzani workshops of Central Asia and the embroidery frames of Rajasthan. This jacket carries that lineage forward, each motif worked by hand onto a deep aubergine velvet ground. Mustard-gold vines climb the body of the jacket, branching into pink-and-rust pomegranate teardrops and open carnation blooms worked in burnt terracotta with powder-pink centres. Teal and sky-blue droplets trace the front placket and hem border, finished with a fine pink chain-stitch outline that threads through every motif like a whispered refrain. A striped cotton lining in navy and ivory peeks through the open mandarin collar. Cut in a relaxed, boxy silhouette with dropped shoulders, it moves easily over kurtas, slips, or simple separates — a piece meant to anchor an outfit rather than disappear into it.
